What is the difference between direct thermal printing and thermal transfer printing?

Both direct thermal printing and thermal transfer printing uses a printhead which applies heat to the surface being marked. Thermal transfer uses a hot ribbon to produce durable high images on various materials. Direct thermal printing applies heat directly onto the surface of the heat sensitive label material changing the targeted areas colour creating an image.

Can all label printers print different sized labels?

No, printers can only print a specified size range of barcode or label.
